Game/Site: Special Agent
[ Thumbnail ]
This is the minisite for my latest game project. It's styled after Apogee's Secret Agent from 1991 - a platformer with individual objectives for each mission.
There's more emphasis on the online high scores than in my previous games, with several tables being run for each level.

Site: The Wedding

Whitney and I married on August the 6th, 2006. This still growing site shows the collections of photos that were taken by us and the people who attended.

ZZT Game: Castle of ZZT
[ Thumbnail ]
A few years ago, I was into ZZT, a game creation system based on ASCII characters that was made by what was eventually to become Epic Games. I found it on my hard drive again this year, and decided to make another game for it. This is the result, and it's possibly the biggest one I've made yet. It was submitted to Z2 in September 2006.

Game/Site: Treasure Tower
[ Thumbnail ]
Treasure Tower was completed in April 2006, and is my second widely released game.  The objective is to go through a series of randomly selected rooms while against the constantly running timer.
It also features a Time Attack mode, in which times can be submitted to an online high score board.

Site: Music
[ Thumbnail ]
I've been using Modplug Tracker to write music since around 2001.  When Modplug's site went down for an extended period last year, I put together a site to let people download and read about my songs.
Songs are downloadable in .IT format, with some MP3 previews also available.

UT2004 Map: Flying Fortress I
[ Thumbnail ]
I've been putting together maps for games for a number of years now, but my aim with the new UnrealEd 3 was to make one that wasn't totally terrible for a change.  The result is Flying Fortress I, a more Quake 3-styled map based around a collection of floating platforms in space.  I love those jump-pads.

Site: Journal

My Livejournal has been running since the middle of 2003.  From it, you can see my thoughts on whatever happens to be in my head at the time.

Video: Prince of Persia in 20 Minutes
[ Thumbnail ]
The original Prince of Persia is one of my all-time favourite games.  This video is my run-through of all 12 levels, done in 18 minutes and 13 seconds (leaving 41:47 on the clock at the end).
The quality of the video is pretty appalling to save on space.  I may work on updating this to make it more watchable.

Game: Kommon Room Kombat
[ Thumbnail ]
This was the kind of thing I was doing with TGF before I started serious attempts at making games. Made in my fifth year of school, it was based on two photographs of a couple of schoolfriends - these photos had been left behind in the common room, and were nicked to turn them into a unique interactive experience.

Site: Quotelog Online

An archive of quotations from the Sinner IRC channel, of which I was a regular visitor from my first to third years of university.

A store of some things that people have said that amused me.  I've recently added a Boost feature so that you can vote up your favourites.

Game: Crystal Towers
[ Thumbnail ]
After using Multimedia Fusion and its predecessors for a number of years, Crystal Towers was the first significant game that I released to the community.  It's a platformer featuring 10 styles of level in multiple routes through the game - the story is of Bernard, the nightwatchman at the Column Temple, who wakes up during the night to find someone has stolen the Life Crystals that we was meant to be guarding.
Crystal Towers has featured on MobyGames, Home of the Underdogs, and in the Czech game magazine "Level".

Program: Solitaire Specification, Simulation and Solution System
[ Thumbnail ]
The S.S.S.S.S. was written as my final year project at St Andrews University.  The aim of the project was to develop a system that could simulate and attempt to solve a variety of different Solitaire games (around 40 are included, and specification is handled through a set of XML files).
It is written in Java, and should run on all computers with Java 1.4.2 installed.  Also included are the acres of project report and documentation that had to be handed in along with it.

Text: The Granstream Saga
[ Thumbnail ]
This is a "fifteen-minute" parody of The Granstream Saga, a cheesy Japanese RPG of which I've been a fan since its release in 1997.  This version was inspired by the ToastyFrog versions of the Metal Gear Solid series, and was written a couple of years ago.

Text: Silent Hill 2
[ Thumbnail ]
My first attempt at writing a parody was a take-off of Silent Hill 2.  At the time it was written I was impressed that it received a few good reviews on fanfiction.net, but I didn't realize at the time that the criteria for recognition on that site wasn't exactly high.  Most of this isn't particularly brilliant looking back on it, but nevertheless, it's here.  It was written in the middle of 2003.

Network Diagrams
[ Thumbnail ]
These network diagrams were left over from a networking practical that I did in third year of unviersity.  I can't imagine that they'd be particularly useful unless they still haven't changed the practical and you want to cheat.  But the network's been reorganized now, so you can't.

FAQs on GameFAQs
[ Thumbnail ]
I'm not particularly happy with the way the game industry is going at the moment, but when I find a game that I enjoy, I often feel compelled to write a guide to it, as much to help myself through it as others. My guides are usually for cult or retro games, such as Tombi, The Granstream Saga and the Syphon Filter series.
